Steam Mop for Hardwood Floor. It is important therefore that people do not use these steam mops on unsealed hardwood floors. You should be careful to make sure that an area which you think is just worn down due to high traffic, has not been stripped of the varnish as to steam clean an unsealed area of wood could cause severe damage to the wood.

If you want to clean your hardwood floor with a steam mop, you must make sure that it is thoroughly sealed and that it is completely dried straight away. This will help to prevent any water damage to your wood. As you know if water seeps into the wood it could warp and cause serious or even irreversible damage. To prevent this, it is imperative that you make sure the floor is dry once the steam mop has passed over the area.

There are a number of steam mops which can be used on sealed hardwood floors and the ones with the best absorbency are the best choices. Some of the steam mops on the market which state that they can be used on sealed hardwood are the H20 Mop, the Shark Steam Mop and the Bissell Steam Mop.

It would be a good idea to check your warranty on your hardwood floor before using a steam mop to make sure you are covered and remember they are only for use on sealed hardwood and not wood which is untreated as you could cause damage to the wood.
